Beaufighter to Australia in 2011

I have been told there is a Beaufighter in the UK been exported back to Australia in 2011 for rework in NSW to either static or fly… not sure what the intended outcome is.

Anyone have any further news on this?
Im told it was maybe originally from Australia but was exported to UK at one stage.

I was told once. That the Tim More’s Beaufighter had the original rear fusleage of the Fighter Collections Beau! I have seen Tim’s Beaufigher for a few years now.

Shame to see it go, but best of luck to the new owner. Its been for sale for an awfully long time. Pity the numbers never came up!

The Beau in question is ex-Halton ground rig X7688 with Tim Moore & Skysport.

That would be a Mk.I.
No direct RAAF connection unfortunately to that airframe, but RAAF did operate Mk Is (all T49xx and T50xx serialled A19-1 to A19-72) in SWPA. If it gets to Oz, perhaps will be done up as a 30 Sqn machine?

According to the latest Classic Wings, yes it is the ex Skysport Beau, and yes it is going to HARS. The article does not specify display or airworthy restoration as far as I can see.

May last year, it was in the storage/restoration hanger “on display” for the first time. Haven’t been down there this year yet so can’t comment further.

here are a couple of pics from last year

A mate who know about the Beaufighter in the UK, has told me more overnight that it is not the expected Duxford Beaufighter. He said that is going no where at the moment.

He understand the export to Australia is a ex RAF machine and it had previously been restored with some Australian Beaufighter parts.

He has not given me a serial number of the aircraft yet involved.

Its a damn shame if its true but it would be for the greater good of the warbird community if it finally gets a chance to resolve the engine issues and finally fly.

Was this still up for sale then?

At a rough guess I would say this is the one that has been undergoing restoration at Duxford for the last goodness knows how long. I cannot remember how long the project has been ongoing but it seems as though it has always been there since I started going there in 1991.
