Popped into ‘Beccles Heliport’ (well it’s still signposted as that locally) this afternoon, and saw this lovely looking old Cessna 195A …..

Surely Austers are classic tail draggers?!
Of course they are, but they, like cubs, are in a different class….
What makes the 195 special is that although a postwar design, it’s a throwback to the big luxury personal aircraft of the interwar period…WACOs, Spartans, Beech 17s and the like.

Indeed they are. My point was not that there are not many classic tail draggers but that the C195 is a rare bird in this country even than 140s and 170s.
