I went on the site Anne, as you suggested, and was most surprised at the decline of the Bumblebee in the U.K. I don’t oft join such causes, but as with Bees, which are also in a very steep decline, I will join the Trust. I understand that the situation in the USA is far worse than here in the U.K. re the Bees. Thanks for the Link.

Have you a Bee Hive Anne?.

No Jim. it’s bumblebees for me. Have a look at the Bumblebee Conservation Trust website some time for information on how you can help them.

BB – unless it’s my faulty eyesight, but if you look closely across the middle body of the bee and away to the upper right quadrant you can see two soft bands, either side of the body, which I reckon are the swiftly beating wings in the hover.

i agree with you on that one

That’s beautiful. I like the light on its wings.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get the wings on this one, but something was holding it in the air 😀

Ahh, I just knew there was a “Sting” in it somewhere……There are still the odd Wasp flying about, no doubt due to the mild weather.

Quite a useful lense that. I have a PRIME Canon lense, but it is a pure Macro. Just shows you how far camera lense have come on. Keep up the good work, and don’t forget to Post them on here, makes a change on G.D. to see something you can’t argue with…….:o

it is an amazing lense it can be used for anything really because of the macro function i mainly use it for aircraft and car shots, also thank you very much, the only reason i have this lense is because my dad gave it to me because he never really used it

I bet Mrs BumbleBee would like these framed, as a Christmas pressie…..Very nice close up, what Lens did you use?.
Jim.

i used a sigma 70-300mm lense with a partial macro function, the lens costs around £90 and is a very good one

These are wonderful photos, especially considering how fast the little perishers move .
If you’re interested in photography and you’re not already on this, you might like this site that invites you to upload a photo a day –

you don’t have to post every day, but I’m trying to complete a whole year and I’m almost there.

Anyone else got any nice bees to share ?

Here’s one I prepared earlier.
