The Beech Restorations SRA (Slow Reaction Alert) Hangar will be open to the public on the Bruntingthorpe Open day on 27th May.
Based upon a Falklands “Rubb” Hangar, The new Beech Restorations Facility will offer a rare opportunity to view the current Beech Restorations projects.
The projects include the following:
Beech 18 G-BKRN
Beech 18 Volpar N2500
T-6G G-TOMC
Harvard IIb G-CPPM (frame)
T-6D G-**** (it is a secret, silly i know)
Also on display will be a NSU Kettenkrad, in a WWII diorama setting
Before anyone asks, the Battle project is located in a restricted area of the airfield and WILL NOT be on display. Nor can requests to see the Battle be accomodated.
Both Beech 18’s will be open for a “through the door” inspection. Please don’t just climb in, ask first.
This applies to all the projects. Please respect the hard work that has gone into them. We do not appreciate sticky fingers mauling them.
Beech Restorations will be pleased to answer any questions, look out for the chaps in the blue polo shirts.
Please note, the Hangar is not yet completed. After a hard 14 months of building, the hangar is almost complete but whilst we take every care to ensure safety, certain areas may be out of bounds due to ongoing construction.
Photography is allowed but please be aware that lighting is poor at this time inside the hangar.
hope to see you there

sunday
Hi, thanks for coming over, such a shame the weather was so bad.
glad you liked what you saw, it does show what can be accomplished if it is done right. What isn’t usually realised, is that most of the work on the planes was done outside between 2 forty foot trucks and a few roof sheets.
Had to keep busy sunday cus it was so cold. I was fixing some bolts on the doors.
next time, the front doors will be on and the hangar will be sealed from all that water coming in. Also we will show another Harvard we are working on and my kettenkrad project.
regards
philip

Im not even going to comment on how diff your area looked to sunday when it was wet and grey.
Had a wander around the hanger and was impressed hugely by the standard of your work. I would have said hello and chatted but you all seemed so busy putting up a door, or i think thats what was been done 😀

sunday
Weather held for the preparations today.
all the sheets are on the front of the hangar now and all cleaned up ready for the wet hoards.
Guys, our hangar is the only shelter on the field. maybe we should charge for entry, only joking.
Didn’t manage to get the secret aircraft rear fuselage over to the hangar nor the kettenkrad but the volpar beech was taxiied over first thing and is there ready.
Beech is uncovered and clean, come and see us.
might bring the secret fuselage and the kettenkrad over in the mornig if it ain’t persisting down.

p.s. hope you are enjoying the wedding ben.

forecast
latest forecast indicates rubbish weather on Sunday, we have almost made our decision to keep aircraft under cover.
On the same basis, kettenkrad will not be on display outside, maybe inside.
hangar will still be open so please come and see us but we might be building or erecting lights or concreting or painting.

sunday
I believe you are correct
I should just say, if it is chucking it down with rain, all bets are off and the planes will stay under cover.
we will then caryy on building the hangar

wind
As far as I know wind is quoted as the direction it is comming from, hence a southerly wind is travelling from the south to the north.
Someone correct me if I am wrong please:confused: .

wind
Haha, oddly enough just checked the forecast – wind and rain!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=2477
Says the wind is ‘southerly’ but the arrow points upwards – does this mean the wind will be blowing towards the north (meaning won’t be too bad in the hangar) or it’ll be blowing towards the south (meaning it will)?
open end is facing north, thereore north wind blows straight in the front.
southerly we are ok.
