I am looking for more information relating to this Satellite Landing Ground and its use during WW2.
My Dad can remember seeing aircraft there (some of his family originated from this village), and a search on this forum yields that Curtis Seamew aircraft were stored, but what else went on here and are there any books which might yield more information?
I guess the landing strip was in the grounds of the School (as is now)?
Regards in advance…..

Was there a MU in the grounds of Woburn, where some Stirlings were broken up?
DS
Woburn Park was satellite landing ground no 34. According to my farther the Stirling where under the trees. Every time i have been to a DH Moth rally, i go looking for bits of Stirling. Its getting harder to find bits with out a metal detector, but still found a few bits last time. A few years ago my son found a piece of metal with a Short Brothers stamp on it. When we had our museum at Bletchley park i spoke to a pilot who flew a Stirling into Woburn Park. He also said some one had landed a Stirling and ran into the lake, leaving the nose of the aircraft under water.

Lettice Curtis “The Forgotten Pilots” wrote about Beechwood Park . By mid 1943 it had been transferred to 15 MU(Wroughton). It was used by Stirlings as well as Seamews. It remained in use to March 1946.The strip was 1,260 yards long SW/NE.

My Dad reckons that the film The Dirty Dozen was shot on the site of the airstrip and during the war, Laurance Olivier and Ralph Richardson would regularly fly RAF aircraft in and out of there?
Your Dad has a good memory!

Yes there where Seamew’s at Beechwood, My dad saw them too! There was a small control building which was converted to a house called “Flight Cottage”. My parents loooked at buying it in the early 1980’s before it was done up. It was near the school. I was told a Spitfire crashed near there at some time during the war. Beechwood Park was satellite landing ground No12. It is in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Airfields in the second world war by Graham Smith.
