During may 2004, a unusual sight could be seen in Beervelde (Belgium). It is the home of a F104 which usualy is displayed on a container in open air, next to the highway. But in may, it was moved to a temporary new position. 😮 This new displayarea attracted some new type of visitors who didn’t show any intrest in Belgians aviation history before.
Luckely, the author of the pic gave this remark to the pic:
FX79 Normally placed on a container near the E17 highway. For unknown reasons it was put on the ground between the cows. Now it’s back on his normal resting place.
But what a intresting pic about Belgian Aircraft Preservation. The most important is that it’s back on it’s container now. 😉

Could it perhaps be OO-EXK which some years back (mid 80s) was derelict at Wevelgem and was the only reported Navion as out of service in Belgium at that time?
Thanks Mr. Tipsy and Consul. As the plane is now within 5 km distance from Wevelgem, I also think that OO-EXK may be the right ID.
I don’t know about any P51 mock up around here TT. Maybe someone else has the answer.

I’d say it’s OO-EXK

How about another nicely preserved aircraft in Belgium. What do you know about this aircraft that survives in the Mellestreet in Heule?

I don’t have any Background info about this Ryan Navion. Is it an A or B variant? Does someone know more?

I was down there earlier this year and noticed that particular F-104. I tried taking a photo on the way back, but from a moving car and with a small digicam I can tell you: the results aren’t worth looking at!
The place looked like a temporary storage area, I never realized that it was its permanent home. 😮

Hmmm, seem to remember these bovine jokes before somewhere…. 😎 I guess it could have been renamed the Fresian Air Museum for a while!
Anyhoo, they’ve moved it down from the containers once before – when I went looking for it in 2001, it wasn’t visible from the motorway as described; fearing the worst I called into the yard and in my best Vlaanderen asked “Waar is de vliegtuig?” and was told it was “In de containers” and yes I could go and take a picture. She was in amongst the containers and up on some stands so made rather a good subject. Looks a bit less healthy now, but at least still in one piece.
