Are there any pics out there of the aircraft at this museum? I’d be really interersted to see any pics of their Japanese aircraft.

Stieglitz …glad to help…. I see your point ! I think they have several others as well.
Merlin XX…the Institute is a different museum from the place you visited.

whoops. forgot the Trident!!

Here are a few more. I don’t have any pics of the Japanese planes I’m afraid. They were all inside the mountain, which has lighting 50 times worse than Hendon’s!!
I’m not sure if the Trident should be in the historic or commercial forum, but then I think it’s both.
I hadn’t heard about the Institute, and was wondering if they are the same place, although I do not recall seeing a P-61. If it is the same place, getting there involved a few bus rides and lots of help from local people. But it was well worth it.

The Il-2 is actually a postwar Il-10.
Steve- the Beijing Aeronautical Institute is at 37 Xue Yuan Lu, Beijing 100083. Opening hours Tues- Sun. 0830-1130 and 1400-1700. it is in the Northern suburbs of the city. Information is a few years old so may not be current.

Thanks Dave, much appreciated.

Excellent stuff. Did you also visit the Beijing Aeronautical Institute (if that’s the right name). They have a good collection including a P-61 (mentioned on this forum before). I’m going in November and would like to know how to find it.

Very interesting Merlin XX! That Ilyushin II-2 Stormovik is great to see (even in this condition). Do you have some more pics from your visit?
I haven’t seen much of the aircraft treasures from china. So I am glad you started posting on this forum. Welcome on board. 🙂
