The last airport of my far east trip in October was Beijing which is fantastic for photography. The first set were taken from a hotel overlooking the ramp and 36L runway and was perfect in the morning. We stumbled across the hotel by accident as we were originally planning to go into a projects building but were denied access by security. We walked a bit and found a hotel and the views from there were superb. So we checked out of our other hotel and spent the last two days there. These first shots were taken from that hotel over two mornings. Most of the stuff is Chinese domestic with lot of Hainan group stuff with a few international movements.

Great shots, the Chinese sure do like their horticultural related special liveries. 🙂

Here are some more photos – all taken from the comfort of the hotel.
The first one has been doctored so looks very strange – it was thick fog when I took this but I managed to “de-fog” it somewhat….

These exotic beasts were taken when it was still a little bit foggy but it was lifting. The Chang An B737 was parked outside my bedroom window all night !…

Now for some more shots without the fog !

Some “doubles”…

Another schemer…

The other “Lucky Air” – a bit more lucky with the sun for this one !

Some bigger aircraft now…

..and a couple of Embraers with subtle differences…

Cheers Scotty. PM me your email and I’ll send you a map and some tips. I have to thank Eddy (civilspotter) for his help. I nagged him and mythered him on where he took his photos from for his trip in 2010 – his guides were invaluable. How about some more schemers !..

and here are three of them waiting in the queue for runway 01 departure !

On the other side of the Terminal 3 approach road you can get shots of aircraft waiting to take off on runway 36R…

At a viewing park near 36R (20 min walk from T3) here is a shot of Air China aircraft queuing up for take off and a very lucky catch with the Sichuan A330 as this was practically the only T3 stand where we could get a reasonable shot of it as it pulled back…

I have lots more photos to share yet and we only spent two days there – the first day was foggy so we went into Beijing.

Super. Unusual. Im not sure what it is, but I can never get as excited about Chinese airlines even despite all their fancy liveries.
Thanks for posting

Those trees are massive and seem close to the aircraft? The China Eastern colourful scheme 6 down is unusual. Impressive collection

Some fantastic photos of some exotic birds. Well done Culpano, can’t wait for the rest 🙂
The China Southern livery has really grown on me over the past couple of weeks, I love the imperial blue. It seems to sit perfectly on every aircraft!
