It is actually not a bad conversion…..presumably the same one used in ‘Band of Brothers’ (watched DVD last night).

The only dead giveaway is only five (too big) road wheels, not six.

The Beard is a sniper face cover, odd choice considering he is armed with an MP40, the Stug incidentally is a FV432 converted to look like one.

Well in real life I can think of a 45 year old operational Bomber Pilot (Wing Commander Pop Wheeler)…

and on the big screen – older actors not unusual LOL …

Zulu… Colour Sgt Frank Bourne (who was actually 24 at the time of Rorkes Drift) – was played by Nigel Green – he was 40 at the time of filming !

Spirit of St Louis – Lindbergh (25) was played by Jimmy Stewart (then aged 47)

Incidentally Colour Sgt Bourne eventually accepted a commission and ended up as an Honorory Lt Colonel (which presumably means he got to at least the rank of Major ?)

You should explain to the majority of forumites who DG is, way before most of their times 🙂

It should be remembered that, in 1944, tank commanders probably didn’t have access to stage make-up, and film make-up artists.

I was going to suggest that he’d be the right sort of age to play Dick Grace (now that would be a film worth watching… if you can stand something like a Youtube crash compilation!) but in fact DG was born in 1898, so he’d have been four years younger than Pitt is now in 1945.

Isn’t that the same for an awful lot of war films though? How old was James Coburn when he played Sgt Steiner in Cross of Iron, or Tom Hanks in Private Ryan..or all the big 60’s epics like Bridge Too Far, Longest Day, Kelly’s Heros etc. The casts of most of those films were always way too old!

Seems to be the way of things.

Is Fury any good despite Pitt the Elder? Might have to go and see it…
