Missed this two days ago, L7600 the Short S.29 Stirling prototype first flew 70 years ago on the 14 May 1939.
Possibly the most important bomber type at the beginning of the war, it was also short lived in its intended role, however it should’nt be forgotten how well it was used in the glider tug and airdropping roles, especially in connection with special operations with the SOE etc.
