I’m still looking for info about Hawker Hurricanes. This time, I’m looking for info about the Hawker Hurricanes MK II’s Which have been used by the Belgian Airforce between 1946 and 1950. The Belgian Airforce used a total of 3 Hawker Hurricanes after the war for liaison flights between Evere (Belgium) and Hendon. I’m looking for the serials/ history, … of those machines and I’m also searching for info about the paint-shemes these planes had during their post-war service with the BAF. I only could find one pic of a BAF Hurricane MKII (I think S58) taken in 1946.
So I don’t need info about the Hurricanes MK I that the BAF used in 1940. I have sufficient info about those earlier Hurricanes.

Marnix,
If you go to the link,I pasted, you will find that in BAF service the aircraft was silver sprayed.
The spand & spinach scheme as seen at the Heyzel show was sprayed after retirment from active duty.
Unfortunately,I never saw a picture of the same aircraft in service

Nice scan Willy. Is that the original service sheme of the hurricane or was it repainted for display reasons?
It shure does look different than the one on the pic that I posted!
Thanks,
J.V.

Maybe on a longer term, but this time I also want to learn about the history of these interesting planes.
But you never know …. 😉

LF345 and LF165 as per Paul Mac Millan

Yes, you are not the only one who would love to see the Brussels museum Hurricane MKII in it’s original BAF sheme. 😎
Thanks for the correct serial Paul. The photo is of such poor quality that I couldn’t read it properly. Any thoughts about the serial of the other 2 BAF Hurricane MKII’s?

Not S58 but last 3 digits of LF658!
Prehaps you can get the Musee to now paint it in the correct codes and serial!

One Hurricane of the Belgian Communication Flight was LF658 (now in Musee de l’Armee painted as “LF345”) LF345 and LF165 were also post war Belgian AF Hurricanes

I’ve never contacted BAHA before. Maybe this quest is a good reason to do so.
It’s strange to see that so little is known about (what I believe) is a important historic aircraft in the history of the BAF.
Thanks guys.

As Roger told you try to contact Daniel Brackx at BAHA.be

Hi Jochen,
I am sure the people at BAHA can help you. They know everything about Belgian aviation (history). Do you know them? If not let me know. BW Roger
