Yesterday I managed to get the Chance to capture on camera BNS Louise-Marie departing London after her historic visit bringing sacred Flanders soil.
I had originally hoped to capture her arrival and the parade for the soil, but unfortunately due to shift work and generally feeling worn out it wasn’t possible. Instead I managed to catch up with her on the departure day, I feel a huge debt of gratitude to the Belgian Navy for this act of bringing the soil to London and could not let Louise-Marie go without seeing her.
Sadly the day was grey and obviously the ship was grey, and grey on grey not ideal for photography. But hopefully I have caught the moment at least a bit.

The logistics involved in moving these ships around the port of London and the Thames in general is fantastic to watch, and yes she was towed/tugged out backwards until in open water., all well worth watching if you have chance.

I am really glad people like them, it was a very special event the Belgian navy arranged as I really wanted to capture something of it.

Great photos there! The ship is based in Zeebrugge, I might have seen it when I’ve been there.

I have to agree with Derekf, well done the Belgian Navy.
HMS Belfast doesn’t seem that big next to the frigate.

A fine set of images and, as you say a great gesture by the Belgian Navy.
