as i noted earlier, it was officially announced about 3 weeks ago, that the Belgian Defence is currently putting its 2 A-310-222’s up for sale. the aircraft were cheaply bought secondhand from Singapore airlines back in 97/98 but are now suffering from constant breakdowns and engine problems currently leaving both aircraft grounded.
today, an unoffial rumor has been circulating on Melsbroek (military side of brussels airport) that minister of Defence, P. De Crem, is currently negotiating with a currently unknown company for the lease of 2 Boeing 767’s. if all goes well the aircraft could be delivered soon. although this is still a rumor, nothing official has been announced.
