I was watching TV prog last night about Lighthouses and that the Bell Rock lighthouse off Arbroath was 200 years old..I remember reading about RAF helicopter from Leuchers crashing into the lighthouse on a unofficial newspaper drop in December 1955..The crew did not survive the collision..anybody else heard about the unfortunate accident.

On 10th July 1956 the squadron lost a second aircraft XF265 off the lighthouse after an engine failure.

Unlikely to be an RAF Whirlwind at that time, Sycamore more probable.

So would the helicopter in question have been a Whirlwind?
