Benign magninficence

Seeing that the new, improved GD Forum is a shining example of benign magnificence, exactly what topics should we be discussing now?

Maybe we should have a poll? In its present, neutered state, GD is now nothing more than an arena in which people are unable to discuss anything more serious or sinister than the banal. More vociferous and heartfelt discussion takes place at the Women’s Institute sewing circle where it is more than the needles that are sharp.

While I understand the need for rules, I find it completely bewildering that the recent unrest has led to this virtual silence we are enduring at the moment. Let’s get back to some of the admittedly often forceful nature of previous discussions.

Benign? Yes. Magnificent? Hardly. Castrated? Most definitely!

I disagree strongly with the view that “no correspondence will be entered into.” If I am likely to be warned I want to know exactly what for and have the opportunity to defend myself. I am sure we would all relish the opportunity of havaing our say but, it seems the final word is left to the hands of the minority who do not even have to justify their actions. This heavy handed policing is a new and vastly unnecessary measure. GD was fine until personal differences clouded the issue. Sort out the personal issues and lets get back to having good old fashioned arguments where at the end of the day we still all respected one another.
