Benyboy is having a little trouble with posting images.
These are his.
Hi
On a lot of threads recently people have been talking about the poor condition of aircraft at Sandtoft. Like a pillock, I ran out of film before I took pics of the Lincoln and Lanc bits, but they are even worse than these.
Shame about no pics of the lanc as I dont think I`ll get another chance. I had to ask weeks in advance for my 5 minutes at the top of the airfield.
Thanks for these Benyboy. Just next time…. take more film huh?

Was it not repoted thst the Lincoln had intrested the Aussies and they they wanted to export it, to mate it up with a long nose section and cockpit of another lincoln.

Much easier moving it like that than the one that went to Doncaster – could have saved a few grey hairs, and guaranteed the future of the airframe….

Visited Sandtoft this weekend – understand that the Lincoln (wings, engine frames, cowlings, fuselage) maybe sold…
By: mark_pilkington - 17th November 2004 at 20:37
Peter,
I understand the cockpit is not with the rest of the parts, or at least thats what I have heard?
Damian,
are you able to shed light on the cockpit situation? and what parts therefore are for sale of the Lincoln and Lancaster?
thanks
Mark Pilkington

Mark – the Lincoln and Lancaster components have left the site and are currently for sale. That also goes for the B-25 and other easily moveable airframes.

By: mark_pilkington - 17th November 2004 at 11:10
Benny,
can you describe what actually exists at sandtoft in the way of Lancaster and Lincoln part,s I had heard suggestions a stripped Lancaster Cockpit was there and other comments that it has since left the site?
