I suppose if you are in to static or taxi shots, it was photo opportunities galore.
However, my preference is photographing aircraft during the flying display. In this respect I left the show somewhat under whelmed.
In 2006, normal scheduled arrivals/departures used a shorter runway the far side of the crowd line. The display aircraft used the main runway which was closer to the crowd line. Most aircraft during a display in 2006 flew at a reasonable distance from the crowd line.
Unfortunately in 2008 that other runway no longer exists. This meant that scheduled arrivals/departures were also using the main runway (now the only runway) which at times pushed the display aircraft miles away giving me quite long spells of total boredom.
The development work at the airport will add a new runway but as it appears at some stage that the display will move to the other side of the airfield, one would be shooting in to the sun. I will not be going back.
The Me262 did not display due to brake problems. The shot is when it was testing the brakes.

Nice pictures, and some useful info about the location. I guess I won’t be bothering with Berlin anytime soon on the basis of that.

Thank you very much for your nice comments.
Unfortunately all my Mustang shots are out of focus but it is amazing what sharpening a small JPEG can do.
Some more including the UK contribution to the flying display

I agree. Good pictures. There are quite a few aircraft that we don’t see very often.
