Best bombers on Channel 5 last night

Am amazed that no-one has started a thread to have a go at this programme, or can’t you be bothered.
As said in another thread how the B-17 scored over the Lancaster was beyond me, however I thought that the homebuild Stuka was fantastic, this was mentioned somewhere else recently, but I never realised it would look so convincing.
Will it be at Leg-ends next year?

Lets face it – the B-17 ran rings around the Lancaster except in what it was designed to do – Carry Bombs!

Stuka was in USA

I think the Stuka sequences were filmed in the USA (or maybe Canada). The pilot sounded American and his name was Mitch something. The Stuka did fly.

What’s the latest on Glenn Lacey’s Stuka restoration?!

He occasionally posts on the forum doesn’t he? Any chance of an update Glenn!

Stuka replica

I don’t this is the same one which appeared last night. The one last night had different camouflage and markings and looked more authentic. I have e mailed Channel 5 to ask is they have more information on the Stuka.

Which Lanc was shown under deep restoration in the background of some of the interviews??

Cheers

My dad asked that too – i figured it must be either America or Canada, as as far as i know there are no Lanc’s under restoration here, even though the guy in the interview seemed to have a Brit accent.

Can anyone give me more information about the replica Stuka which appeared in the programme last night?

Colin – I found a link which might reveal more about the replica Stuka, and also a previous thread on the Russian-built replica that I mentioned previously:

Superficial, low-brow telly. Didn’t think it worth commenting on.

Better than a soap though I suppose, or the awful Big Brother Celebrity Wife Swop in the Jungle starring Sharon Osbourne (again)

Doubt it, judging by the way the guy talked it was in America, although i believe theres a Stuka restoration going on somewhere in England. To me it’s just another of those ‘Best ***’, ‘Worlds greatest ***’ or ‘Most famous ***’ TV companies churn out because it’s cheaper than making real television.
