Can’t decide what to buy on friday, so I need ur help….shall I invest in a PS2 or XBox???
I like racing games, fighter combat and thrillers (Metal Gear etc.). The two of them offer good titles so which one do u think is best overall???

If you want games, and lots of them then go for an Xbox, my friend connected his xbox to his computer and downloaded games onto it’s hard-drive and onto some discs, he know has every single game created for the x-box!! He gets an update on his PC telling him about a new game, just connects his console up and downloads it.

Does the PS2 do this ??? I don’t think so.

Bought a PS2, got Conflict Zone (which I have become addicted to despite getting my a** kicked everytime) and GT3 (stunning) plus a PS1 game called Worlds Scariest Police Chases which is good but u really notice the graphic difference.
Tau Fire Warrior looks cool on demo as does Revolution.

Anyone got any advice on Conflict while in Skirmish mode? Playing as ICP against Ghost what are the best tatics? I play defensively and lose everytime!!!

(Oh yes, and Halo: Combat Evolved is soon to be realeased on PS2). 🙂

I’ve got both, and I’d vote for the XBox. PS2 will never see Halo 😀 And GTA: Vice City will be out on the XBox very shortly. Plus the graphics are better than PS2.

As for the DVD issue…the PS2 has a nasty habit of not playing certain DVDs. There are lists on the web of known DVDs that the PS2 will not play. I’ve got a few of them myself, and the XBox has never given me a problem. There are good games for both, but the XBox is getting up a big head of steam. Many more games are coming which will be outSTANDING.

As the proud owner of a PS2, I can assure you that you don’t need to buy a remote to use the console for DVDs, the controller will work the DVD functions for you, I should know as I use my PS2 to watch DVDs!
The PS2 is also the best one because you have access to many more games than the X-Box owing to the backwards compatibility with the PSOne. The controller of the PS2 is also better to handle than the controller of the X-Box (my cousin has an X-Box so I’ve tried that).

Also, you only get one “Silent Hill” game on X-Box, on PS2 there are four – Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 2 Director’s Cut and Silent Hill 3. Silent Hill is the best game series anywhere, on any console, better than Grand Theft Auto.

PS2, flying on Vice City is fun although not of great realism, plus the XBox costs to get DVD and CD capabilities.

Id suggest you get your facts right aj_march. Yes you have to purchase the DVD remote for the XBox but you have to for the PS2 as well.

What do you mean CD capabilities? It already plays music CD’s

PS2 all the way.
I have been addicted to the roll play games, ie Medal of Honour, Metal Gear, Conflict and even Getaway etc
You also cant beat Gran Tourismo for driving which I love.

A mate has a ’64 and its good, but for the type of games I like… Its got to be the PS2

XBox! 2003 NCAA Football (for us Americans) is worth the purchase alone.

I’d go for the XBox, more powerful and there are some corking games out there.

In fact I’ve been pondering about purchasing one myself. Halo looks the mutz nutz, and its probably almost 18 months old!

PS2 – if you mean flying games when you say fighter combat, there are a couple, but if you have a PS1 and any of the Air Combat series, they’ll work on it. I have WingOver on PS1 and play it regularly on PS2.

Of course, there’s The Great Escape, the Grand Theft Auto games (all five if you get the PS1 GTA collectors’ pack), the Medal of Honor series (all of them good).

Plus, the PS2 doubles as a DVD player and CD player, but then so does the X-box!

X-Box is cheaper, but there are better games for PS2, IMHO.
