Views of the city, and the ships lined up in neat rows waiting to dock in the container terminal are superb.

Sorry, I know the thread title said “After Take Off”, but it’s similar.

I did mention Hong Kong a while back, although sadly, nobody will ever be able to fly into Kai Tak ever again. Although the newer Hong Kong airport doesn’t have the sharp turns and rollercoaster-landings, the views are just as spectacular.

LOL, I love the approach into Heathrow on 27L/R over London, on a clear day you can see everything! Brilliant!

I actually think in many cases the approaches to airports could be more interesting, not least because in many cases the terrain that makes the approach interesting also prevents departure over it…

Sydney – when we took off from there to fly to Auckland we did a steep turn and the view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge was simply stunning.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned LCY. Canary Wharf right beside you on approach (or take-off depending on runway in use), the River Thames, the City of London, its a superb ride, try it.

Plus the London Eye and the Dome. BTW, does anyone know which building near the airport has a big sign on the roof saying something like “Have a nice trip”? Or at least it did last time I flew out of LCY.

Honolulu….especially if it’s the reef runway with spectacular views of Diamond Head and the blue Pacific ocean

Never seen better than an evening take-off at Sydney(over the city,not Botany Bay)
Done it in an Aeropelican Twin Otter, nice slow climb…very nice!

I always liked Sydney depending on the rwy of course. Great views of all the landmarks etc.

And dependant on which side the aircraft you are sat :p

Sydney is great but I found London to be the best, an evening departure for Australia from rwy 27L saw us swing round to the north before turning east to give fantastic views of London lit up like a Christmas tree, in my humble opinion you can’t beat that
