But when they are drawn of the shelf in the stores they are just plane wood. That’s part of my point. The black and silver ones have a metal…’sleeve’ over them and that is what’s painted (for the black ones anyways i guess silver would be bare metal during the war). So if ya wanna be picky…hehehe… they are all still wood *big cheeky grin* But thanks for that, it’s an interesting fact.

Anyone know what happened to the other 109 that was flying around the same time as Black6, I think it was a G10 and was it Hans Dittesthat owned it? I’ve not heard anything about it for ages, does it still fly? Or is it now grounded?

I’ve heard that from a few people David, certainly seems like a tricky but rewarding lump to fly behind. 🙂

As for my ‘best’ warbird? Beaufighter (obviously), closely followed by Spitfire V and Chipmunk. Purely from personal ‘ooh aah’ factor. 😀

4 goes, 1 crash, shrunk from 90 down to 40kb. But of course it’s ‘going to be fixed wither the server upgrade’ isn’t it.

It does doens’t it?
Well i asume you mean it’s him, can’t be me i was sitting in a P-51 tonight. (i’ve had a couple to drink, so forgive spellings)

I guess the only thing is in the UK, the CAA only let you have 100% authentic schemes, otherwise you have to put the reg down the side of it.
Wooden aerials are standard fit, my dad sold a spare one to PT and it comes wooden. The painted ones have a metal ‘sleeve’ over them that is painted.

AT6

There is a well known saying attributed to Spencer Flack. It goes along the lines of ‘When you own a Spitfire, you can paint it in whatever colour scheme you like’

Looks like someone is jealous!

When I worked on F-AZIE, a CAC Mk 22 Mustang, it also had a wooden aerial. Standard fit I believe, and you can paint them whatever colour you like!

Cheers

Bruce

I know what i am talking in about thanks.
my dads was built in Dallas Texas and then shipped to NZ, it was one of the final 50 P-51D’s ever built.
Big Beautiful Doll has a black arial, never seen that one?
And about what colour yours would be, i was being sarcastic.

AT6, your refering to your old mans P-51. I’m refering to original USAAF P-51’s. The only black aerials i have seen are when the invasion stripes go right around the fuselage other than that they were natural metal or olive drab. If i had a P-51 then it would be the same as Ken Wagnons, finished as the Cripes A’Mighty that Preddy was killed in. Preddy’s aerial was finished to look like a barbers pole, red and white striped.
