better as a MPA: CN-235 or AN-72P?

I was wondering what is the opinion of you guys about CASA CN-235MP and AN-72P. They are both maritime patrol aircraft. I am more more interested in knowing which platfrom is better suited for such a task, not including the avionics as they change per customer chioce. The An-72 is larger with greater carrying capacity and double the armament load. It can also in its MPA version act as a viable transport. Both aircraft have about 8hrs station time, but CN-235 has a greater range with a full load.

Also,does having propellor driven MPAs a better choice than ones using jet engines or is this just a convention. Since CN-235 has been delivered to several customers like Spain, Indonesia, Turkey and perhaps Saudi Arabia in the MPA guise, does it tell us anything more than a bias for western aircraft.
