Hi
I have just acquired a relic BF 109 front canopy which has the shattered bullet proof glass inside of the outer frame.
Would anyone know what Mark they were first fitted to and a round about what year etc.
Cheers again for any help given..

It is sitting backwards….flip it around. 🙂
Those big wings/elephant ears on the side mount to the main frame just as in clint’s photo.I suppose it IS possible it is a Bf110 armor glass frame. It looks similar.
Could you get some photo’s with better light? It is a bit dark.
Hi
I will try and get some better photos over the next couple of days.. Cheers again.
Brad.

That is E/F style externally mounted frame and glass.
Hi wizardoftthenort thank you for your input,
when you say external mounted frame does this mean it is mounted in front of the canopy itself similar to the photo that Clint mitchel had sent on post 5 , im struggling to find a photo as yet showing the design of this windscreen that i have. as if you take a close look at photo 4 on post 4 you will see that the side of the screen is slightly different to the one on Clint Mitchels a minor detail i know but i haven’t as yet found a windsreen with this design..
Also on the top of the front screen the rounded design appears to come from the back to the front rather than the majority that curve from the front to the back, you can see this on my post 7 photos 1 2 3 4 and 6.. (but the more you look at it it does appear to be the same design as Clints photo)
again any help or photos would be as always appreciated Brad..

Bit difficult to tell really. Might be a later type. Is there a curved band of metal protruding out of the top edge and curving backwards?
Does it look like this one here:

If it’s the separate armoured glass part that bolted/screwed onto the front of the forward canopy section then it was the E series and it was sporadically fitted to all variants from early to mid 1940 onwards. A photo would help. 🙂
Thanks for your reply Clint i will try to post a photo..
