BF 109 Rifle's

In Haynes BF109 Manual it states that a stowed Mauser Carbine 98K Rifle is carried in the rear fuselage Black 6, Was this standard fit on all BF109’s or just the BF109Trop’s?

I believe Luftwaffe aircraft operating in the North African theatre had a rifle fitted in the rear fuselage as a survival aid (along with other items such as food and water etc). I think the most recent “Flypast” mentioned the Ju 87 Stuka having a rifle stowed for North African operations.
