Bf110 crash site being dug today near Bristol

Heard on the Grapevine that the ‘Fishponds’ Bf110 is being dug today near Bristol, Mr Jones I believe.

Just thought I’d pass it on, They have found some stuff as well 😮

After a several hours conservation today this is the same artifact

Have seen one or two recovered DB601s (109 and 110) built by Henschel. MAN were another maker.

A nice find, though! Should have the engine number stamped into the reverse.

Yes I believe that is the one, sorry for the confusion, It was always known localy as the ‘Fishpond’s’ Bf110, although I dont know the exact crash site location.

Bf 110C-4, Wnr.2162, U8+FK of 2/ZG 26

Ofw. Hans Tiepelt (F) killed

Uffz. Herbert Brosig (Bf) killed

Both engines set alight in an attack by F/O. M.E.A. Royce in a Hurricane of 504 Sq. (Filton). Exploded at the Stapleton Institution, Fishponds, Bristol at 11.45 hrs. Tiepelt and Brosig are buried in Greenbank Cemetery, Bristol.
