I guess most of you have seen this, but for the benefit of those who haven’t

Apparently the last CloD patch made a lot of difference. Not had a chance to play it but some online mates reckoned it was a vast improvement. I do wonder if the Battle for Moscow project will have a BoB campaign eventually.
Still reckon Rise of Flight is the business though!

🙂 Why don’t you have a go BoB11 WOV,there is a new patch out this week,
Hmm, looks good!
Had the original version but had quite a few CTD’s so never really got into it. Lets see what this one brings.

hampden98, check out the Aces High game I mentioned above. While the graphics might not be as good and the BoB not the subject matter, it does have the game play you mention. What’s more, you are not fighting bots, but real people.

how did they go wrong?
Wasted effort on technical perfection while ignoring atmosphere and realism.
They should have traded all those beautiful models for game-play and historical accuracy. A BoB sim should be Scramble, flight to target, engage formation, down a few Stukas, get embroiled with the escort and then home for tea and scones. Not as we have now, an air start over water in a one on one, or few on few engagement because the sim can’t cope. Don’t get me started on the engine sounds and radio chatter.
As for a campaign mode, forget it!

That video demonstrates the problem with Cliffs of Dover. Two lone aircraft over water with corrupt radio chatter. Which is about all the sim can handle even with a state of the art PC.
So much for mass formations over London!

I much prefer Aces High for online action. Less technical, more focus on the experience of shooting other people down. And is still a large online game. http://www.hitechcreations.com/
You can even drive tanks and anti-aircraft vehicles, AA guns and 18 pounder base defence guns. Pretty cool.
The best thing is, it’s not too graphics intense, so can run on lower end PCs, also, no software to buy, you can download it for a free 2 week, no strings trial. After that, it’s $15 a month if you wish to continue playing.

When you say ‘defunct’ do you mean not playable online any more?
I never got to that stage, it was hard enough starting the aircraft and taxiing to the threshold.
Moggy
You can still play it BUT there are no more official updates or work to be done on it,it has reached the end of it’s road – – UNLESS others somehow crack it and mod it themselves.

It’s such a great shame CoD turned out to be such a big white elephant, building on the experience with the basic IL2 should surely have produced something much better. how did they go wrong?
Thanks for the link Peter, “only a flight sim” but nice to look at…even if it was a heap of dross to play!

Very pretty and where else would you see a perspective like that other than within a stimulator? (Sic)
Not very realistic with the Wimpy flying straight and level for that long 😉

Why watch computer graphics. One might as well read a comic.
I, for one, think it is very well done. And there aren’t many airworthy Wellingtons around anymore, are they? At least this is a great deal better than what we got in Memphis Belle.
Perhaps this just shows how spoilt we are nowadays?

🙂 It’s the now defunct CLOD sim that was abandoned a few weeks ago.Had so much potential but so badly run and managed.
