Nothing fancy, just was around about 0830 so went mad and paid £6.50( nearly a weeks wages to us poor couriers 🙁 ) to go in to check out the long stay car park. Quite good for shooting, a wee bit of heat haze killed though:

good pics mate, can you tell me how to get onto the carpark by the used to be outdoor veiwing area, when i went on holliday end of March they were diging the entrance up where the barriers are, you see i park on there to get some good approach shots. cheers, corky
The carpark and the entrance to it is still there, the road into it just diverts a little to the left because of the area they dug up and consequently flattened to create six new parking stands for Terminal 2.
To get where Tartan Pics was you just follow the carpark all the way to the end. You’l need a ladder preferably for photography.

Love the CRJ!
That looks a great place to spot. Usually when we go to BHX we go in the Aviation Experience because I cannot resist that shop.

Thanks Andy
I am very limited to where i can park due to height and length of the van,and usually my visits tend to be “touch and go’s” due to work commitments, good information though which will help others out.
Nice one.

Two alternatives reference parking at BHX:
1. The multi-storey carpark on the Elmdon side is pay-and-display, £3.70 all day. Sun favours this location in the afternoon, although you’ll need a long lens (300-400mm) and the hangar gets in the way a bit. This location is no use if you want to go to the terminal building though
2. Marston Green station (next one from Birmingham International) has a free car park, if you can find a space, and the train fare to Birmingham International / Airport is just pence
