Is It Really Racism?

Whilst I agree BB is an example of the kind of dross on TV these days, I do not agree about there being any racism towards Shilpa Shetty. I think the whole ‘race’ issue has been blown out of proportion, and unfortunately, it’s political correctness rearing it’s ugly head again. 😡

From what I’ve seen, I really can’t see any sign of racism or bullying towards Ms Shetty, and even the media seem confused, as one minute it’s racism, the next bullying! :confused:

It’s nothing more than women bitching for god’s sake!

What puzzles me is, if the likes of Jade Goody & the other women were racists, why aren’t they making racist comments towards Jermaine Jackson? (I didn’t think racists were that selective). And if I recall correctly, didn’t he call Jade’s mum ‘White Trash’ the other day? Funny how this seems to have slipped the media’s memory! :rolleyes:

I think the worrying thing is that these days, if you happen to call someone who’s skin is not the same colour as yours, something as innocuous as an ‘Idiot’ or have an argument or disagreement with them, you’re instantly branded a racist! That can’t be right, and that’s exactly what we are seeing here – three women who happen to be white and English and don’t get on with another, who happens to be Indian.

I wonder if this would be national news and hot debate if Shilpa and two of the other girls where showing the same sort of hostility towards Jade for example?

Watched some of this crap last night due to the publicity..CH4 must be delighted…figures were going down the pan and suddenly….

This crap is the sort of thing that Chris Tarrant used to ridicule on one of his TV shows ,cant think which one, apparently it was all down to those weird Japanese, South American, North American or Europeans with their nonsensical ideas of entertainment …well its been here for a while now and its only getting worse !!!

Its not just BB look at mid morning TV…”Real” people up on stage talking about their problems..Real my butt !!!…publicity/attention seekers more like and the programme makers pander to this type of cheap rubbish. and look at what we call comedy these days!!

It has to be said that the standard of TV programming has gone down the drain over the last few years. and this crap is what they think we want!!!

And who in the name of whatever Deity you worship are some of these “Celebrities” anyway ? Footballer’s Girlfriend? 70’s pop stars? some silly little girl who pulled her top up on a previous BB?

I have to admit that it is a good enough idea (if you like that sort of programme). It’s more the fact that they can spend hours doing nothing and I’m not quite sure why people actually sit there and watch it…….like on the live showings.

Still, I really don’t have the time to watch much TV these days……I have several lesson plans to do for the ACF later 🙁 🙁 🙁

well I use to thing that way too…
untill with little persuation from my little sisters behalf, I found myself (almoust) hooking into our own BBs second season…

….and I didnt feel shame at all, nor some selfcondemning morale upheval that would have made me came publicly judge it as cr*p or something similar…Becouse compared to all other entertaiment the common western menu offers, I cannot see single element (beside the qubitious mask of ‘reality TV’ or ‘real persons involved’ -tag) that would seperate Big Brother type of programs from other entertaiment that uses overplayed ‘human’ malodrama as main force.
I see no difference, if same result is reached with manuscript crafted before the ‘situation’, or with script installed into otherwise unrelated material afterwards (that seemed to have in our BB a really strong element to create the entertaining elements.)

I do agree that the contest of the show is almoust complete BS or little bit above that, and deliberatly seeks its appeal from the sort of lowest level of things that amuse us, ….but if there are three holes of wich one produces excrement, other produces urine and third humans, what more can we expect:D :rolleyes: 😉

Lets just hope we dont start hearing same ‘limit the freedom of speach’ rethorics as we again insulted third worlds religious&social values. I dont speak behalf racism but i will choose it and other sort of idiotic obinions rather that accept that we should start seeking rules suppress the freedom of speach….nothing good waits if we choose that road

Picked up the free Carphone Warehouse catalogue instore yesterday and on the front it proclaimed “Proud Sponsors of Celebrity Big Brother” That really peeved me off and inside was a picture of the beaming CEO and i thought to myself wonder if your really proud now.

Support of this crap should be withdrawn. It makes uncomfortable viewing and anyone who benefits or gets a kick out of it should be ashamed:mad:

If people want to appear in / watch cr*p like this that is their privilege. There are enough channels available nowdays that even if I particularly wanted to watch television at a given time I wouldn’t be forced to watch CBB.

But I am genuinely in the market for a phone, I wouldn’t go to Carphone now under any circumstances, it is the one power I have.

If the 20,000 people who had complained to Ofcom had done so the Carphone Warehouse you would see an instant change in the programme.

Equally I wouldm’t go to Phones FU either. In their ads they portray their customers as drooling morons. That’s a strategy the import of which escapes me.

Moggy C, I don’t blame you in the slightest for emailing the CEO and questioning why he wants his company to be associated with such nonsense, although I have to agree with Ren Frew that it isn’t even in the least surprising the way people behave on that awful, awful programme, which I have to say, personally I find to be pretty much the most pathetic, unintelligent waste of time ever to be broadcast. Nonetheless, the wasters who take part do to a degree reflect the wasters in real life, and a short walk around most major cities will show you that.

I live in Bradford, which it seems is where the vast majority of the UK’s wasters come to breed even more wasters, and I hate this city. I genuinely hate it, simply because it has a much higher proportion of these idiots than most other places in the UK, and walking through our city centre, a city centre also shared by many good people, seeing these ignorant fools spitting, littering, shouting abuse at one another and generally being low life scum annoys me. Bradford has some wonderful aspects to it, unfortunately its negative side makes that difficult to see sometimes.

I can imagine many of Bradford’s residents would like nothing more than to be a part of Big Brother!
