Airbus Wins $2 Billion Order for 20 Planes From China Eastern
June 11 (Bloomberg) — Airbus SAS, the world’s biggest commercial-aircraft maker, won a $2 billion order for 20 A330-200 planes from China Eastern Airlines Corp., the nation’s third- largest airline.
The Chinese airline has an option to buy 10 more aircraft. The order is one of nine agreements signed between Chinese and French companies during a visit to Paris by China’s Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan. The contracts, which involve Electricite de France, Alstom SA, Alcatel SA and Areva SA, were announced in a ceremony during a meeting between Zeng and French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin.
The latest order boosts Airbus’s lead this year over Chicago- based Boeing Co. Before the exercise of an option this week by JetBlue Airways Corp. to buy 30 planes, Airbus had 70 orders, compared with 68 for Boeing.
The twin-aisle A330 can carry between 250 and 330 passengers and sells for between $121 million and $132 million, depending on the model
