Big deal for AgustaWestland in Algeria

AirForces Monthly exclusive Algeria buys AgustaWestland helicopters

September 8: This months issue of AirForces Monthly, on sale Thursday, exclusively reveals that Algeria has awarded AgustaWestland a contract to provide up to 100 helicopters of various types including the A109 LUH and AW139.

Theses choppers are not for the “army” but for the security forces (police, gendarmerie and douannes) for the surveillance of the border in the sahara and anti-drug/terror operations…
The deal concern the AW-109 LUH, AW-139 LUH, and AW-101 S&I version.

The contract has nothing to do with the above contract (AW-101 SAR & SuperLynx Mk300)for the QBJ (Algerian navy) and coast guard division.
