Big JET2 Expansion

Well as I think LBARules predcited, Jet2 is expanding its operations, including the start of Ibiza flights, 5 times a week, and huge capacity increases on other existing destinations:

The airline has again put a huge seat increase on its “bread and butter” routes. Considering it was only 18 months or so that jet2 started slowly operating its services out of LBA this a huge growth, and just shows on how other operators have been loosing out, and jet2 have found their niche!

The only problem is now they are getting to be so well known the special offers are getting snapped up much faster, but thats life. As said above i think Jet2 may well start to move into newer territory again soon, Ibiza is a start, and possably a 4x weekly Mahon, but what about more mainland european routes?

Only route which isnt on sale is the Paris CDG one. I doubt it will be continued – unless a twice daily route is used to boost demand

Is the extra flight to Palma definate – it’s not listed in the changes on the press release provided to LBA, but it is mentioned in the text! If there is an extra flight it’s a pity their booking system doesn’t yet show these changes. I need to book for next May to Palma and it’s still showing one flight with the cheapest seat at £109. An extra trip should introduce some cheaper seats.

Indeed it does need Jet2, thats the only bad thing, will this announcement drive charter airlines further away from LBA? If so, their loss, Jet2 and LBAs gain. Nice to have an airline who are fully commited to LBA for a change, so glad we got Jet2 who started specifially up at LBA, instead of someone like BMi Baby (Who we could still get next year!).

LBA needs Jet2, especially since lots of charter airlines are scalling back their operations at the Yorks airport.

This is excellent news for LBA: no doubt a consequence of Thomsonfly’s imminent arrival at DSA!! 😉

Indeed, im amazed by this news! Its fantastic, everyone moaning about them not using the a/c enough now will be in for a shock! I just hope we get a Cologne or Berlin route soon.

In a nutshell:
Ibiza 5 times a week.
Alicante now TWICE daily up from ONCE daily.
Amsterdam now has two flights on a Saturday where as it was one flight on a Saturday before.
Faro now DAILY
Malaga now THREE times daily.
Palma now TWICE daily as opposed to once before.
Murcia now has TWO flights a day on a Sat and Sun with the same daily flights for the rest of the week.

We now only have 1 route which isnt at least daily and thats Venice!

Fantastic news 🙂
