Around noon today. I’m halfway between Gatwick and Dorking, and this was a few miles North of me.
Sounded like a DC3, but couldn’t see it for the fog.
Any ideas?

Could it have been the Aces High Dakota, N147DC/TS423, which I believe is based at Dunsfold?

There is/was a C-47 based at Dunsfold…..
I thought that the ex South African example was flown out to France in around April of this year.

Fox, you could well be right.
I read something, on t’web yesterday I think, about it leaving Dunsfold. But I can’t find it now.
Edit: I meant that I read it yesterday, and not that it left yesterday. (Although that was the recollection of said reading).
And that would certainly be the right track for a trip North of Gatwick towards the East.
Quite funny if this was the case. My ears told me that Gatwick was a bit quiet today (fog hasn’t lifted until this evening). But a 60+ year old aircraft flies on by.
