What are those ugly grey things behind the SeaHawk? 😀
Thanks for sharing Albert. The organisers had obviously put a bit of thought into displaying the a/c in the static, and while they didn’t get it completely right (viz the Do24ATT) overall access was good, and the reenactors and ‘props’ looked good. The Spitfire line was a good idea.
Cheers

Biggin Hill Sunday
Sunday was a much better day at Biggin Hill with full sunshine up until around mid-day when it clouded over, but blue ‘holes’ kept appearing. Everything flew and the Sea Hawk arrived from Yeovilton about 1215, then flew with the Sea Fury. The Dornier flew at 1530 but weather was somewhat overcast then, so I left before the rush! Here are a couple of shots.

Given the weather at Biggin I would think they’re both still safely at Yeovilton. No sense risking them in that clag – if wx is good tomorrow perhaps they’ll arrive in the morning… hope so anyway!
Around 7,30pm tonight a powerful piston engine aircraft and a old jet flew over my mums house but i did not see then weather was much improved by then.
Had a feeling it maybe it was Seafury and Seahawk.

To those who are attending have a great day. I’m off to get some sleep now.

Early start…

could they have left after the show?
By: stringbag - 18th September 2004 at 21:10
They landed back at Yeovilton after their display. The Sea Hawk was then towed back to the RNHF hangar, possibly for some maintenance work?
By: stewart1a - 18th September 2004 at 21:06
apparantly according to my friend who was at yeovilton today that they had not returned so quite possibly

I also gave Yeovilton a miss but will be at Biggin tomorrow.
By: Septic - 18th September 2004 at 20:15
I gave up around 4.30. The low cloud and rain seemed to be stuck over the airfield. I will be back tomorrow as I’m determined to get the some shots of the Dornier with air under its wheels.
Typically by 6pm the weather had cleared.
Septic.

Morning was nice, show died 1/2 way thanks to solid cloud and very British wetness.
However, I got what I wanted 🙂 so I’m happy. Sunday does look the better bet, but I’m socially comitted. (Or just comitted!)
Anyone try Yeovilton?
Heard the Seafury and Seahawk arrive from Yeovilton at around 7pm didnt see them though.

could somebody make sure they get good pictures of all attendants and have a good day as i cant make it.
I photograph aircraft, not attendants! :diablo: I leave the car parks to them.

Decided to give both Yeovilton & Biggin Hill a miss today due to the appalling weather!
It’s 1220 here are no sign of a break in the solid cloud and drizzle,so will have a go at Biggin tomorrow!

I will be there both days i will be the one with a biege type jacket on and a camera welded to my left eye
…..and by the look of todays forecast and actual weather here, an umbrella and wellies too! Sundays forecast sound a bit better
By: duxfordhawk - 17th September 2004 at 23:26
Forecast isn’t bad for Yeovilton, Biggin looks better on Sunday.
Not tetchy, nice to say ‘hello’ but do you really want to stare at a face like a squashed tomato and talk about who said what % why on the forum (?!) or take pictures of unique aeroplanes? Hmmm. Easy one. I’ll be by the Dornier. Or the Seahawk. Or the Sea Fury. Or running about madly. You get the idea.
See you there!

Hey Stewart1a,
How many Merlin engined planes can you name? (it’s a cool game once you get past B-P Balliol…)
