Hi all, just got in from Biggin Hill, and on the whole the show was great! Weather held out all day.
Show was supposed to start of with the RAF sky diving team, but because it was fairly windy there today it was cancelled, as was the Wright Flyer flight and the Bleriot flight.
So to start today off, the first flight was done by the Utterly Butterly wingwalkers team. 3 times they went out today!
Best flights of the day for me were the Air Atlantique DC-6, the Virgin A340-600, which sir Richard was on, and finally Sally B.
The Sea Vixen didn’t turn up today, not sure why… was it there yesterday?
Anyhow, overall a good day, plenty of action. I used up 5×36 expossure flims… so lots of pics on the way, gimme about a week for them.
Only nasty thing of the day was, I some how got really sunburnt!!!:( Ouch my face!

OK, you’re probably right – I was busy pushing airplanes and wiping castor oil during briefing so I couldn’t attend at the briefing.
Maybe we stumbled into each other, I was the taller of the crew with the black Haldex overall and swinging the prop most of the times.
I’ll tell Mikael, he’ll be happy for the picture.
It was my first time at Biggin Hill and I already plan to go again next year. Swedish airshows won’t be the same after this…

“The mad Swede”…
I don’t think Mikael Carlson was ordered to “tone down” his Tummelisa show. The reason was simply that it was much more gusty on the Sunday than on the day before. That was also the reason we had to cancel the second Bleriot flight. It was almost too windy for the Bleriot on the first day too – but that was first discovered on 70 ft…
The CVM Ö1 Tummelisa was the first Swedish primary fighter trainer and Mikael’s philosophy is that it should be flown as it once was. The same goes for the Bleriot.
Mikael has flown the Tummelisa since 1989 and the Bleriot since 1991 so he really know his planes. And after all, in the 20’s it took a whole day for pilots to figure out how to loop it, but once they did it, they did it it all the time…
My best moment during the Biggin Hill weekend was Ray Hanna’s solo display closing the first day. It was so beautiful!!! Long sweeping fly-by’s accompanied by a magnificent taptoo in the speakers.
Brian Lecomber’s Extra display on the last day was also very nice. Flashing strobes against the dark clouds – beautiful!
By the way, you’ll find Mikaels website at:

It appears that HFL’s Spitfire TD248 was sporting a Breitling crest this past weekend. Can anybody confirm that Spitfire SM845 was similarly dressed for the formation slot and post an image?

Damien Great pic! Did you make out was the sticker on the rear of the fuselage said at all? I managed to pick out BA can Concorde… something like that.
In the BBMF one was missing. Other good displays yesterday for me were the SU26 of the Alpine team and of course the Red Arrows… but I have still seen the Arrows in better form than I saw them yesterday, at FAB last year… I have never seen them as low as I did there!!

Just back from Biggin….
What a show.
As usual for me The BBMF stole the show.
Thoroughly enjoyed myself and me kids did to..(Although the 2 year old wasn’t sure about the ‘noisy'(or nosey as he says!!) Tornados.)
Long live the Biggin Hill airshow!:D

I dont know if it is related, but last weekend at Coventry, the Sea Vixen shed some access panels and tools during the Saturday display. It promptly landed and was not seen on the Sunday.
Still not too sure about the Red Bull look either. Can someone please win the lottery and pay to return it to Fleet Air Arm colours!

No, the CVIX wasn’t there yesterday. Was the second AA Dakota there today, as I’m sure I saw it (or one like it) flying over this morning?
