Biggin Hill cine film 1986

I know it’s not ‘photos’ of Biggin Hill but I thought you might be interested in a blast from the past. 1986 Biggin Hill airshow filmed on an old Super 8 cine camera. The qualities not brilliant but the quality of planes flying was.

The phantom that displayed on that Sunday ran off the end of the runway and was at the airfield all the following week.

I remember that. I was standing, with my late father, on thepavement of the main road opposite the runway.

We saw the Phantom land and then we got a nose full of burnt rubber.

I also remember the A-10 coming out of a roll and diving on us before levelling out down the runway.

Seeing the Phantom reminds of the earlier displays when you used to see USAFE F-4’s,F-111 and RAF lightnings. God the noise was incrediable!!
And of course the Red Arrows used to fly from behind and over the crowd.Bloody H&S [spit’s]

Although I didn’t visit Biggin in 86, (according to my photo records) I photographed Vulcans on 5 occasions that year, XH558 4 times an XL426 just once – take your pick, untill someone can be more positive.

Thanks for that. Let’s see if anyone knows. It would be good if anyone has any photos from that day….. Anyone??
