Biggin Hill School of Anti-Aircraft Defence badge.

Can anyone help with an enquiry I have had on my website? I have copied it below:

I was intrigued to find pictures of the School of Anti-Aircraft Defence on your excellent Biggin Hill Website. A very reliable contemporary source states that the School, a joint Army / RAF establishment I am advised, had a badge depicting a nude kneeling archer with bow and arrow pointing skyward. I have been unable to discover whether this was a piece of statuary (say on or near the gates or the buildings), an interior design feature or even just on stationery as a letterhead. I am pretty certain it was not a uniform badge. Given the wealth of material that you have unearthed so far I wondered whether you had ever come across this nude archer in any form. If you have I would be very interested in hearing from you as this would tie in with an ongoing project on the AA Command sign worn during WW2.

This is what the school looked like during the war.

School of Artillery Manorbier (South Wales)

Following on from my previous post (which didn’t do too well it has to be said ) i have now found out that the School of Anti-Aircraft defence moved to Manorbier in Pembrokeshire ay the outbreak of WW2.

So I thought I’d update this thread and ask if anyone can point me in the direction of and ‘expert’ on this subject (as there seems to be an ‘expert’ on virtually all aspects of…… well just about anything really).

Tony
