Now available at Biggin Hill I hear courtesy of Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar….
There’s a new website for it too – http://www.flyaspitfire.co.uk
Hmmm, interesting… does this mean they’ve acquired MJ627 as well as all the other Spits?

Can anyone clarify if both operators are using MJ627? Any feedback from people who have had a flight from either operator would be appreciated. Goodwood have confirmed that they won’t allow cameras onboard (Quite understand this) but they can provide a video of your flight.
Trying to arrange travel to Usedom this year for a specific date was too complicated from Edinburgh so I was planning to travel to Goodwood via Southampton for a flight but Biggin Hill might be easier to access for me via Gatwick.
Hi all, as I understand it Mj627 is privately owned and was leased to Boultbee at goodwood but is now on a years lease to BHHH.

naw…HP brown sauce Living and working in Florida for 2 years at Warbird Adventures I had the opportunity to meet a lot of English tourists that have only been to Orlando. The most disturbing part about Disney and Orlando is…’that part of Florida’ is about the only snapshot of America they get. It’s horrible to think of Florida as the Ambassador State for the US…we really do have much more to offer…food choices aside. I apologize for the rest

I’m saving for my Spitfire flight now!

Does Caesar Salad go well with a Greggs pasty? I can’t say it is a combination I’ve ever tried.
By: Moggy C - 24th December 2014 at 01:41
Only if the Caesar Salad is a proper one with LOTS of anchovies.
I am sick and tired of restaurants advertising Caesar Salads and serving up something whose only anchovy content is in the sauce.

Not to be biased toward the 51 but…come on over and I will give you the Mustang ride of your life ๐ you can take all the video you want AND I’ll let you fly it…from the backseat of course. Yes, video has a piano tune attached…
Jim
PS…I’ll even throw in a good Caesar Salad…or local fare

And that particular P-40 is the only ride-hauling one with dual controls. Chris did a really nice job of building it.

Personally I’d like a flight in a two-seat P-40 or Hurricane (does that even exist? ha ha)…but that’s just me. For the record I find the Spitfire to be a wonderful airplane, and certainly beautiful as well…my heart is just with the “underdogs.” ๐
P40 and P51 flights are available here just north of the Golden Gate bridge if your ever this way………………. http://www.vintageaircraft.com/

One of the long-term operators of a twin seat Spit has been a vocal opponent to the proposed introduction of ‘venture aviation’ and the fully legal and transparent selling of warbird flight experiences. For a long time, they were ( in loose terms) the ‘only game in town’ which suited them very well.
I think there will be enough punters to go round, and support a number of operators.

I do remember seeing some photos, but as you mentioned I assumed none existed now.
I hope I can get to Biggin Hill or Duxford one of these days so I can at least see one fly. Spitfire or Hurricane…the Merlin is a great sound!
By: DazDaMan - 23rd December 2014 at 18:27
There WERE two-seat Hurricanes – none survive these days, though.

Classic Wings
WOW !!! Its finally happening, Now you can join “The Few” and fly IN a Spitfire with us here at IWM Duxford which is totally fitting as this legendary airfield was one of the principal fighter bases in WWII.
We often talk of โonce-in-a-lifetimeโ opportunities and now we are able to offer one…. as a flight in a Spitfire really does fall into that category.
We now have dates available for 2015
All details soon to be live on our website www.classic-wings.co.uk

Sure it’s not flights ‘WITH’ a Spitfire as they have been doing?

Though I understand at Boultbee, to be allowed to even touch the controls, you must have signed up for the course, not just a single flight?
The above is more a question, rather than a statement.

As I understand it, you sign up for a course with time logged in a Tiger Moth or Chipmunk, Harvard and finally the Spitfire .
By: TEXANTOMCAT - 22nd December 2014 at 16:51
Having worked operating a T-6 for five years -I imagine the twenty minutes is the same as your logbook – ie brakes off to brakes on. Never 20 mins in der luft! Makes a LOT of difference to your bottom line at 55usg/hr!

Well, that’s presumably what you get if you opt for fillet steak over pasties! ๐

I think the Biggin flights are just as a passenger.
At The Boultbee Academy PPL’s can fly the Spitfire and log the time .
