Biggin on Saturday

Some stuff performing at Bournemouth used Biggin as a base – luckily I only live a few miles away 😀

Weird how f-16’s can operate out of Biggin Hill for Eastbourne but they rarely operate from there for an airshow at Biggin.

The Belgian Airforce first let their F-16s land at Biggin during the Battle of Britain show last year. They did several Touch and Go’s assessing the situation on Landing before doing so. They used to operate from Manston along with the Dutch in the past.

Previous to then i can only remember seeing a Danish 2 seater land for a static display.

I can always hear aircraft flying about but never see anything because of my neighbours trees. Bah! There I am belting out into the garden after hearing the sound of a Merlin and all I do for he next 5 minutes is try to distinguish the aircraft with said Merlin fron the branches and leaves on the trees!

Apparently it flew past Popham shortly afterwards. Paul Ambrose had just joined downwind in his Pitts and I was still over Whitchurch trying to lose height. Paul saw it, I didn’t but he was a fair way off from me.

Darnit! I was up in Derby all weekend! I saw the Hawks and what I thought was a Hurricane (lousy single decker buses) on Thursday afternoon… I reckon my cat will have been in and out of the house with all that hardware careering about!
