Biggin Warbirds – Gannet, Mozzie, Buchon…

Yup,
You’ve guessed, it wasn’t this year. While looking for something else, I found these rough scans of some slides. Hope you enjoy them!

Buchon G-HUNN (corrected!), Sunderland G-BJHS, Kermit Week’s Mosquito before departure for the USA, and the Gannet that WAS flying in private hands…

Daz,
Think it’s the PR.XI, when owned by Doug Arnold.

About the ex-Church Buchon. I think your photo is taken around 1989-90 – it’s wearing its “Memphis Belle” film colours there, and the previous year wore a Battle of Britain-style scheme for “Piece of Cake”.

Dunno which Spit that is in the background, though.

Guess I’ll have to see if I can get some better scans sorted then! The late great Doug Arnold, is of course seen with his back to the camera in the Spitfire shot; while Chris Morris of the Shuttleworth collection is seen on the right (He was looking after the Hawker Hind if I remember correctly.)

Cheers!

I have only missed ONE Biggin Hill Air Fair since 1966 and have photos from them all!
Biggin has ALWAYS produced something not seen elsewhere and worth travelling to, although not ideal for photography.

Cheers for the piccies JDK,and the memories they bring back. The second load of photo’s you posted were taken in 1992,only the second show I ever attended (the first being the BofB 50th Anniversary display at Abingdon in 1990). Think it was also the only time the WoGB Mk.18 Spit has ever appeared in public.

You are right Blueyonder – G-HUNN. What year – er, dunno. 1986?

Don’t do numbers or dates if I can avoid it 😀

Heh.
I know you want me to, but I’ve got to do some work occasionally! There’s a few others, but at the moment I don’t have time to scan them properly. Maybe later!

Cheers

And a few more

Doug Arnold and one of his Spitfires, German Buchon D-FEHD, LB-30 of the CAF, and a formation we haven’t seen for a few years – Turkeycat (ground) B-25, B-17, Catalina, Mosquito and LB-30 (B-24 if you will)

Cheers!
