'Biggles Biplane' Comes Together

Snow on ground. Freezing cold in hangar, but nothing will stop Bod and the BB team. The wings are back on the BE-2 replica in time for Christmas.

Woo hoo!

Is that Rumplemoth one of the two built in 1961 by John Crewsden at Croydon for ‘Lawrence of Arabia’?

Nope, they left both of those in the dessert:diablo:

This is pure and simple thread drift, for which I apologise, but many years ago I enjoyed the marathon German TV series Heimat – Eine Deutsche Chronik.

In the first episode, this Biggles Biplane appears briefly. Not having seen Wings for a long time, I wondered if it was one and the same flying replica, but having the chance to compare them now, it obviously isn’t.

It does beg the question, though, which aeroplane is it? A Blue Max survivor, or something from a later movie? Anyone know? Thanks in advance!

First we had ‘Biggles Biplane’ in miniature. Now thanks to simulator designer Ted Cook we’ll shortly all be able to fly a virtual BE-2c on FS2004!

It is currently being beta-tested by the people over at www.classicbritishfiles.com

Not till we get to fly it! Waiting on some new flying wires at the moment, then some final finishing to do, as we wait for the snow to melt!

‘Baldeagle’ who has been flying the Rumpler replica in the USA, built around the same time, described it as a ‘flying blancmange’, unstable in yaw, but it does everything very slowly!

Well done chaps! :D:D
She has come along very nicely since I had the pleasure of seeing her (and her stablemates!) this summer. Now the inevitable question! Will she be at Le…..;):D:D
