Biman Widebody Order (Merged)

Santa brought me a most unexpected but welcome gift in the shape of a 1/100 scale model of a Boeing 777-200 in the current livery of Bangladesh Biman. The model is approx 2ft long with similar wingspan and made by a company called Pacific Miniatures, on one end of the carton is an actual Boeing commercial dept label also indicating the enclosed models paint scheme. Can anyone tell me wether Biman plans or had planned to obtain the 777? The scheme looks good on the type. Any input gratefully recieved

Biman may be from an impoverished nation, but they are doing better than people credit them. Ok, they’re not rich, but they make money.

I’m not honestly sure whether they are likely to purchase the aircraft, or whether they are likely to take at least some of them on operating lease. However, there is one good point about being a state owned carrier such as Biman….when you need money there is usually a pot of gold somewhere… 😉

I never said they hadn’t.

I never said that you said you did… 😉

Merely pointing out that a split order like that isn’t that unusual of late. 🙂

Many airlines have ordered the two; KLM being the most recent.

I never said they hadn’t.

A very intelligent order I think. The right aircraft for their missions.

They currently have 6 DC-10s and 4 A310s, so its pretty much a renewal of both types by their direct replacements.
