Today, the Flying Legends team made it’s first flight in 3 months to celebrate the new year. They made a trip from Kortrijk-Wevelgem (EBKT) to Ursel (EBUL). In this wintermonths, and a temprature of 2°Celcius, it was bit cold. But if you love vintage planes, even the freezing cold can’t stop you! 😎
Planes included today where:
Morane Saulnier MS317 OO-MOR
Boeing PT17 Stearman OO-USN
DH82a Tiger Moth OO-TGM
Also joining the formation was Extraviation’s Stampe SV4b
The Stampe SV4d OO-SVT was also planned to join the Formation, but a last minute technical fault prevented the Stampe to fly.
I got the chance to take some (I hope) nice pics and here they come:

It’s quite simple….sometimes some of the best trips take place in cold weather when you expect things to be miserable and you wish you were back home in the comfort of your living room with your feet up in front of a fire, but then you find a whole new world opens up to you up there in the brisk air a mile so above mother earth…the photos come back from the developers and they look spectacular (for those of us not using digital) and the trip takes on a whole new light later on…you realize that despite all, you had a great time and you now have a great way to remember it and, as you have done here, share it with others who appreciate it too.

awesome!!! That Morane Saulnier is a jewel!!! Any info about the operational career of her?
Good ol’ biplanes: they need many cuddles but flying with ’em pays u back of all the sweat!
I have a question about the red Tiger Moth, but I guess just the ground crew/pilot/owner might reply.. Anyway, where do u guys made the smoke pipe pass? Seems like it goes straight thru the cylinders!Alex
Hey Alex. The MS317 was built in 1938 with cn 6533. It got the french military serlial N°279. It was privatly owned by several private owners and had the following civil registrations in the past: N315MS, F-BGIL and now it is OO-MOR. The Morane is with the team for a few years now. In the 1990’ties, its engine had run its 1000hrs so a new engine was needed. It had a complete restoration (aircraft+engine) which was completed in 2001 and had flown around 50 hours by mid 2004 since its restoration.
If you want more info, I can always ask around.
About the Tiger Moth: I’m not an mecanic, but maybe someone else can help here who has more knowledge about the Gipsy engine.
Thanks for all the kind comments! As you guys have noticed, I enjoy these rides time and time again. It is a passion. 😉
