It was the way I read it.

Nothing to see, move along folks.

Indeed, jbs… why the venom directed at Pagen01?

A winking smiley indicates a post that is being made in a friendly fashion, not a snake striking.

Seriously, venom? Did this at the end of the sentance;) not suggest that I was being a bit tongue in cheek?
I actually find your weighty response, if not venomous, a bit personal.

Pagen01, a tad unfair I feel.

You posted this,

Wolverine, Michigan, FM-2 Wildcat?

to whit Paul followed up with,

23rd November 2012, 09:04

Maybe

Ensign William Forbes FM-2 ditched lake Michigam Dec. 28 1944 ??

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-11-14/news/ct-tl-glenview-naval-foundation-lake-michigan-plan-20121114_1_wwii-plane-taras-lyssenko-a-t-recovery

also

see

http://www.warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46313

which identified the pilot and date

An excellent collaborative effort in my view, one that this forum is renowned for, but I am not really sure what point you are making by the post below.

Paul was beaten by 9 1/2 hours (Post #18)!

No personal axe to grind just wondering why the venom?

I agree. In fact, I think that it’s dangeous to dali here for too long unless you’ve got magritte than me. Or, at least, that what my dada said – and he was in real ernst, man. Ray said that this miro society nowadays!

the whole thread is a load of pollocks :diablo:

Wasn’t the Wolverine’s “sister ship” USS Sable a side wheeler?

I wouldn’t have got it if Ross didn’t know and post a good clue, Mk12 was obviously on the right track as well.

Was Wolverine unique as a paddle steaming aircraft carrier?!

fishing

Going that fast he is not going to get much lift as it is facing in the wrong direction and no tail feathers either.

Rubbish weather until next week so we’ll have to wait and see for the next installment.

MS

Paul has been fishing and is of course correct and of course found pilots family 🙂

Not sure if you’re being entirely serious Anday as reality has blurred with the absurd here, but;
I think the opening picture is the tail end of Grumman FM-2 Wildcat that ditched off the practice aircraft carrier USS Wolverine, ex paddle steamer Seeandbee, which was based on lake Michigan.
The aircraft was due to be recovered this month, and I’m assuming the pic shows the first chunk to be recovered.
My thanks to Ross for his clue – but only if this is correct!:D

Of course I’m gutted that there isn’t actually an aeroplane called the Marten Honey Badger! Wibble!

So why were they dumping a warbird over the stern of that vessel? Looks as if the engine made a tidy splash.

What….it was the Spitfire in the Underground?!! 😮

So there is truth that London Transport dumped it in the Thames?
