The Black Sparrow is a missile simulator, used to simulate tactical ballistic missiles, such as the Scud. It has been used in the testing of the Arrow BMD system, allowing for semi-realistic threat simulation.
The big question: could it be turned into a weapon? With modern small nuclear warheads, an air-launched ballistic missile might be quite useful. The missile would probably weigh in around 2500-3000lbs, which would allow for even tactical aircraft to carry one or two missiles. As for range, that is a big question – it is a small missile, but with modern rocket technology, should be able to go a decent distance.
