Hello..
Just found the thread relating to the demise of my Blackbushe contributions to the Farnborough Aviation Group forum. For reasons never understood my work was deleted along with a around three years effort. Not to be outdone I launched a new pure Blackbushe forum earlier in the year. http://blackbusheairport.proboards.com/

I run a daily piece named “Photo of the Day”… The Forum is about Blackbushe alone, past, present and future…Hopefully you can stop by and take a look if you have not done so already?

Thanks
Peter

I am also disappointed for a number of reasons. I work only a stones throw away and have done for 30 years now. I used to be a hangar rat around the time Dick Melton was rebuilding the Mosquito. I was there the day G-PSID was test flown. I met and had a brief conversation with Gary Numan about flying. Lots of other memories triggered by reading the thread.

If you set a forum up you have to take the good with the bad a fact of internet life.

If you set up a forum you can do absolutely whatever you want with it. And that includes shutting it down at a moment’s notice

Suggesting it imposes on you a duty to put up with the sort of carp that gets posted by mindless cyber-warriors, trolls and deficients is very easy to say, but just try it some time.

There’s a team of seven moderators and three or four Key staff monitoring this forum and there are days we can barely cope. If this was a one man effort, then I can’t blame him. Sad though it is to lose the archive.

It seems there are about 75 pages saved on Wayback.

That’s the trouble with t’internet. It’s like writing with a stick on the beach as the tide comes in. Give me the printed page any day!

I was not aware of any issues and thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and reading the posts on the Blackbushe pictures of the past forum.
Surely a forum should allow members to add comment good or bad?

I hope the host reconsiders and re instates the forum or at least make public his grievances.

His action just closing it as he has strikes me as somewhat petulant, even childish. If you set a forum up you have to take the good with the bad a fact of internet life.

It certainly is a shame, but the owner obviously felt that he was being taken in a direction that he didn’t want to go.
I particularly enjoyed the Blackbushe, Bournemouth and Lasham threads.

If you want to grab the pages they can be viewed via the Wayback Machine ….

You may have to search for pages individually. May take a while!

That’s a real shame. Pete Brown’s photos were a fantastic insight into an earlier era and also the heyday of Doug Arnold’s pioneering Warbirds of Great Britain Collection. He had the photos from the ’70’s ’80’s era that “you always wanted to see but no-one at the time would have dared to publish”. I hope the Blackbushe thread/forum will re-surface in some form soon.
