With all of the nice P-38 paint schemes…………..why did they pick that one???
Because those happen to be the colors of Charlie MacDonald. I suggest you read up on the man’s wartime accomplishments and then decide if the scheme is still inappropriate.

I don’t see the characteristic turbo units fitted…It appears to have straight exhaust just like the Red Bull aircraft.
Time to give my optician a call… Thanks for the correction VS, that’ll teach me for posting past my bedtime!

The aircraft will soon be headed to sky harbour in canada for a complete strip and repaint into OD colors …. this is the scheme it wore before coming to Stallion 51 for overhaul/restoration.
Thanks for the update………:D

Very nice.
The last two pics give a proper impression of the size of the beast compared to other single-seat fighter types!

Congratulations to Mr.Lauderbeck, and to Mr. Huppert. Great to see this P38 active again, and with turbo’s fitted (operational?) to boot. Looking forward to the new paint scheme, how about the bright red ‘Yippee’? That would be quite something. 🙂
