Blast from the past

Took this ancient Junkers at EDI when it was on a round Britain tour last year?

The bad weather gave the pic an old-fashioned mono look.

The Hurricane, and pilot Brian Brown, were tragically lost at Shoreham during 2007.

Classic beauty? Hardly!

More a graphic example of how attempts to copy beauty so often fail to capture its essence.

nope none of those pics are taken in India.

India leased the IL 62M from Aeroflot in 1989 and operated on the BOM/DEL-MOW sector. In 1991 2 more IL 62Ms were leased from Aeroflot but were operated in full Aeroflot colors.

This particular IL 62M, which was wet leased was the only IL 62M that operated with Air India titles on it.

Other than that AI also leased 2 IL 76 in 1991 for cargo ops.

Where were these taken?

It looks like a CSA Tu-134 on the left of the first shot, thereby suggesting they weren’t taken in india?

I didn’t know that Air India ever operated the VC10ski!!!…was it on lease???

I would suggest the answer is yes from the registration, although I, like you, never knew they’d operated them either.

Great pic! I remember I was at MAN for the 100 years of flight celebration and that exact plane was doing pleasure flights all day

Yep..that was the event… folk who managed to get seats
said it was worth every penny… they even got ‘wined’ in
the executive lounge before the flight.. 😉
