Reading another thread about aftershave and perfumes made me wonder…
How are television advertisement breaks structured in your country?
In New South Wales, the three major commercial television networks schedule commercial breaks with between six and nine commercials, every five to eight minutes. The ad breaks last up to three minutes! Ninety minute movies are scheduled over two hours, so a quarter of the program is bl***dy commercials.
Recently, another underhanded and highly annoying trend has emerged – the repeat commercial within the one ad break. This is particularly the case if some dumb bunny actually sponsors the program,,,you get hammered with their damned commercials time and time again, over the space of one hour or so.
And another trick, being practiced by one station operating out of Newcastle, is to play the same ad every second ad, so you get the wretched thing three times per break!!!
The greed of the commercial stations knows no bounds. I understand that advertising on “free to air” television differs overseas, so…
How do they do it where you live?

Wombat

Well , here we have 3 situations.
– Private TV : A mess except that they are not allowed by law to have more than a 10 mn commercial break.
-Public TV : Ad breaks are BETWEEN the different shows and movies have no break.
– Paid TV such as satelitte TV have no break at all

Well, Wombat its not quite as bad as that over here in England, bit on some programmes and films on the titles, advertisements appear for new films that will be shown! In other words the screen is split in two.
I’ve heard worse happens in Japan, where some othe adverts lash a certain way and it triggers something in the brain which makes you continuously think about it, honestly, but I think they may have banned it, lets just hope so!!!
