Spitfire RM689
Hi B Knowles, well we did the fuselage at Airframe Assemblies about 3yrs ago and as far as i know is still being fitted out. As for the wings they are being put together by Hull aviation. Dont know much more than this. Best person to talk to would be John Hart at Rolls Royce who is in charge of the project.

Spitfire RM689
Hi – I am new to the forum, and just wanting any info at all regarding the progress of restoration of this Spit. My 85 year old father is keen to know, and would travel from Australia to see it if we knew the work is finished.

Hi there,
Regarding the Rolls Royce Spitfire RM689, the fuselage from firewall to rudder was rebuilt by Airframe Assemblies on the Isle of Wight. The finished result being delivered back to Filton in November 2004 for fitment of engine and systems etc, wings being done by Hull Aero in Norfolk.
