Blenheim Restoration Duxford

Does anyone know if the Blenheim project will be open for viewing this weekend at Duxford?

I am keen to see the latest progress on this lovely aircraft.

Vultee35, you asked for a more recent photo. These are not right up to date, but were taken on 17th October 2010.

Incidentally, are there still any substantial Bolingbroke remains extant in Canada or elswhere? Or are they all under restoration or on display now?

I think if you had to pay for a ride in a Spitfire it would empty most peoples wallets sufficiently to substantially reduce their weight in any case!

Anyone got any current pictures? This was my most recent in 2008.

I would much rather fly in the Blenheim than a spitfire!

Well done on your 100th post Dragon Rapide.

You’ve heard of giving your right arm for such an opportunity….. one way to reduce the payload 😀

Just noticed that I have made a very frivolous use of my 100th post….

The only downer to winning a rear seat Spitfire flight is discovering that the max rear cockpit weight allowed is….195lbs! Or so I’m led to believe.

The Blenheim, as has been said, is in Hangar 3; to your right as you enter the hangar from the airfield side. The Mark IV nose previously fitted to the aircraft is also there, as is a large scale model of a Mark V Blenheim, better known as the Bisley.

The collecting bomb is also here for any spare loose change you may feel moved to donate towards the repairs!

For the Legends weekend, the Blenheim Society will have a presence by the aircraft, selling Grand Flying Draw tickets. Come and see us – we’ll be pleased to see you!

Well I’ve no idea as to whether it will be especially accessable, but even in normal circumstances she’s pretty easy to view so you should be able to have a good look. A couple of years ago the barriers were moved back slightly while the other aircraft were out on the flightline, which allowed some very close up noseying. Perhaps we’ll get lucky again…
